NFT Burn
NFT Burn destroys NFTs you no longer want and sends the rent locked in their accounts back to your wallet. Spam is grouped and labeled so you can clear it in a few clicks, and NFTs from verified collections are flagged so you do not burn something valuable by mistake. Before you press anything, the page shows the rent back, the fee, the network fee and what lands in your wallet.

5% of the rent the burn returns
The page measures that rent by testing the burn on the chain, and the fee is paid inside each batch transaction, so a batch that fails charges nothing. A compressed NFT returns no rent and has no fee.
When this tool fits
#when-this-tool-fits- Your wallet is full of spam NFTs with links and “claim your reward” names, and you want them gone.
- You hold old NFTs you will never sell, and the SOL locked in their accounts is worth more to you than the NFTs.
- You minted test pieces or leftovers and want to clear them out of a collection wallet.
Before you start
#before-you-start- A connected wallet that holds the NFTs (how to connect). The page lists every NFT in it, grouped by collection.
- A little SOL for network fees. The rent comes back only after the burn lands, so the wallet pays the network fee first; the page says when it holds too little.
- Certainty. A burnt NFT is destroyed for good and cannot be brought back.
How to use it
#how-to-use-it-
Pick the NFTs to burn
Your NFTs are listed By collection, or One by one. Rows guessed to be spam carry a May be spam label, and Pick all spam picks every one of them. Rows from a verified collection carry May be valuable. Nothing is picked for you; search, open a row, and pick what you want gone.
-
Check what comes back
The page reads the accounts each burn closes and tests every batch on the chain. The panel then shows the rent from the picked NFTs, the J Tools fee (5%), the network fees, the amount under Comes back to your wallet and how many wallet approvals the burn needs.
-
Burn
Press Burn NFTs and approve each batch in your wallet. A summary shows how many were burned, what came back and the fee, with a CSV you can download.
What each kind of NFT gives back
#what-each-kind-of-nft-gives-back| NFT | What the burn closes | What comes back |
|---|---|---|
| Token Metadata NFT | Its token account, metadata and edition accounts | All of their rent, about 0.0068 SOL for a classic NFT, minus the 5% fee |
| Programmable NFT | The same accounts plus its token record | All of their rent, minus the 5% fee |
| Core NFT | The asset account, shrunk to a tiny tombstone | The rent above the tombstone, minus the create fee the standard keeps (about 0.0015 SOL), minus the 5% fee |
| Compressed NFT | A leaf in a shared tree, no account of its own | No rent and no fee. You pay only the network fee |
- The rent is measured, not guessed. The page runs each burn on the chain without sending it and reads what the accounts really lose. The fee is 5% of that figure.
- A Core NFT does not give back its whole balance. A burnt Core NFT keeps a one-byte tombstone so its address is never reused, and the create fee charged when it was made stays in that tombstone.
- A compressed NFT costs a little to burn. It has no rent to return, so its line comes back negative by the network fee.
Which NFTs it can burn
#which-nfts-it-can-burn- Core, Token Metadata, programmable and compressed NFTs: yes.
- Token-2022 NFTs: not supported. They show as locked in the list.
- Printed editions: not supported. They show as locked as a print edition.
- Frozen NFTs: a frozen NFT cannot be burned, except a programmable NFT, which is held frozen by design and still burns.
- NFTs that left your wallet: the check confirms the wallet still holds every NFT and drops the ones it does not.
Spam and valuable labels
#spam-and-valuable-labels- May be spam is a guess from the name: a link, reward or claim words, or hidden letters. It is only a label. Look before you burn.
- May be valuable marks a verified collection that does not look like spam. Make sure you really mean to burn these.
- Pick all spam picks every NFT labeled spam. You can unpick any of them before you burn.
Fees and costs
#fees-and-costs| Cost | Amount |
|---|---|
| J Tools platform fee | 5% of the rent the burn returns, paid inside each batch. On three classic NFTs that return about 0.0204 SOL, the fee is about 0.001 SOL |
| Solana network fee | Paid to validators, once per batch |
| Rent back | Goes to your wallet, after the fee |
| Compressed NFTs | No rent back and no fee, only the network fee |
What you approve
#what-you-approve- One approval per batch. A batch holds as many burns as fit in one Solana transaction, up to 20. The panel says how many approvals the burn needs.
- Every batch is tested first. A batch the chain refuses is tried NFT by NFT, and the ones that cannot burn are named with Unpick them next to them. Burn stays off until every batch passes.
- If a batch fails, its NFTs stay in your wallet, no fee is taken for it, and the run goes on. At the end, Try the rest again burns only those.
- If you stop or decline in the wallet, the NFTs already burned stay burned and the rest stay picked. Press Burn NFTs to go on.
Before you sign
#before-you-signOpen the rows labeled May be valuable once more and unpick anything you might want later. Then check Comes back to your wallet and the number of approvals. The app is the current source of truth for the amount and the fee.
Common issues
#common-issues- NFTs cannot be burned. Unpick them to continue. The chain refused those burns in the test run, often because the NFT moved or is frozen. Press Unpick them.
- Network fees need more SOL than the wallet holds. Add a little SOL; the rent comes back once the burn lands.
- The check could not reach the network. Press Check again.
- Less came back for a Core NFT than its balance. That is the tombstone and the create fee staying behind, as the panel showed before you burned.
- Approval window not showing? After about 15 seconds without an answer, the page tells you to click your wallet’s icon in the browser toolbar.
